Do you remember when you were a teen and the rock stars were your idols. You would buy their Cd's, buy magazines to
learn more about them and just stair at them for ever, thinking how hot they were. You'd listen to their songs, alone with
your friends, hang out where their tickets were being sold for concerts and wait all night for the ticket booth to open
and spend all the money you had made at your minimum paying job just to experience their coolness in person.
I remember spending the night in a parking lot anticipating buying "Hearts" concert tickets, Peter Frampton, Kiss.
And rushing in buying as many souvenirs I could afford and being one of many standing up and drooling over
them as they sang their songs and ran around the stages performing. Becoming more and more a fan watching
them and drooling.
And as the years pass you still listen to their music and your mind goes back to the day of when you and your
friends would sit around talking with their music playing in the back ground. Remembering how great their songs
were and how beautiful and sexy they were. Re visiting the events of the day that made that particular song so
important in your world.
And then years pass from those days of when these performers were greatness and you see them on television
performing or they perform a concert again and you go because many years prior you were so into that performer
or that group. You anticipate the concert one more time just as you had in the past, but when the concert begins and
that performer that you once drooled over has aged right along with you, the magic seems to have disappeared.
Oh the song pretty much sounds the same and the instruments are played miraculously as they had been, but
the movements have slowed down a great bit or have stopped completely, and that once idol of yours has lost their
youth and charisma you realize time has passed and as you have aged they too have aged and have somehow lost
their sex appeal. And the reality of you have aged too, sinks in and you wish you had never tried to relive the
past. And you don't even want to see the performer now because they have lost their spark.
It's truly a mental shock and you can only try to block out the current artist at their age now and try to slip
them back into the past so they will always stay young and energetic in your mind and their songs
live in the youth time you have created in your mind. I realize these performers still need to make money
and them being in concert can only bring back awesome memories for them, probably more so than me but
I have to wonder if I am alone in thinking their comes a time when performers need to stop performing and
just allow their songs to linger from yesterday.
Just curious if I'm the only one that sees this like this or if others find the aged "Heart", Peter Franptom etc
see them in a different light? And I guess I wonder do we fill that way because of our own mortality or because
by seeing them at a different aged time in life makes them less attractive and less important or could it be because
their aged performance takes something from our past that should never be disturbed or could it be that it seems
that you see younger artist perform and see your kids react to them as you had to your idols, only to come to
realize that each generation relives the same cycle of life as the generation before them and the generation before
that.
I guess it has come to make me wonder what exactly is the purpose in growing that excited and that pumped up about
something or someone to have realize its just a part of time that passes quickly and when it ends it should never
be reborn again because it makes you question other aspects of life, and how something at one time of your life
was so anticipated has lost its spark and appeal.
Stay in the past, allow me to see you as you were and remember how your songs touched my life that allows my
memories of days gone by to live in my mind forever.

wow that is very deep, but sometimes it is a good idea to step out of the past as all good things do come to an end but can look forward to the future as better things can happen and you can still feel young
